Why Government Jobs in India are Considered Best

The Government of India (GoI) consists of huge administrative machinery. It comprises of various department like Road, Railways, Aviation, Defense, Space, Energy, Corporate affairs, Finance, Parliamentary affairs, Home etc. Most of these departments are headed by the ministers as its top functionary under the leadership of the Prime Minister of India. Executive of these departments includes the secretaries, joint secretaries and under secretaries (the IAS/IPS/IFS officers). Then comes’ other staff.

These executives (except ministers) are recruited through various examinations conducted by the Government employment agencies such UPSC, RRB, SSC and other recruitment board. These personnel are recruited for Grade I to Grade IV, according to the types of post.

Nature of Government Jobs:

  1. Employees shall never face any risk of loss of employment as the Government of India is a perpetual entity. Further, the employees shall continue to enjoy their job without any risk of decrement.
  2. Salaries are always paid, they may get late, but they are paid. Also the GOI gives some types of bonuses for its employees such as Diwali bonus etc.
  3. In Indian govt job, Income post retirement is also guaranteed. For this some monthly deduction for provident fund (PF) is done. This amount is disbursed to the employees after retirement or in case of any exigency.
  4. Work culture is also good and conducive for the overall development of the employee. Normal working hours, fixed time for opening and closure of the office, regular leaves or casual leaves (usually 15 in a year) and public holidays and other allowances only adds to make this job more lucrative
  5. The Government also allows its staff to forms association to bargain rights with the Government. These associations’ constantly works towards the welfare of their members. Through these associations, employees are always ensured security from any kind of persisting or potential exploitation.
  6. In case, an employee dies leaving dependent family member, then his job is given to the next adult of his/her family. This kind of food and income security is only prevalent in the Government sector.
  7. Government ensure health securities of employee and his family. The Government bears the burden of the family illness. It provides all the medical facilities to its employees.
  8. In Railways, education of the children of the employees is also provided.

Conclusion

The above feature makes Indian Government job to be most secured and employee friendly. Jobs of the Public Sector are also the part of the Government thus extends similar benefits. Therefore, Government jobs are becoming first preference amongst the young talent of the country.
