1. Tell us something about yourself.

This is the most commonly asked questions in any interview. With this question, you get the opportunity to control the atmosphere. Start your answer by telling your name, place of birth, about your family background and then tell about your educational background. Also mention about your hobbies and total work experience.

2. Why do you want to join banking sector?

At this point you get a chance to impress the interviewers. Start by telling the nature of work you are looking for and then the work one gets to do in banking industry like customer service, financial help to poor and destitute, and social imprint that can a banker left. Inter-relate all these things and frame your answer.

3. Will you be comfortable to work in rural areas?

Through this question your honesty is tested, so, do not say blindly that yes you are comfortable with the work. Everybody knows that nobody wants to work in rural areas, that's why the government has made it compulsory for promotions. So, just say that you will face any challenge that comes your way and will do anything to serve the people.

4. What will you do, if you get a better job opportunity than this?

Everybody wants to get better opportunity and no one wants to waste it as well. So, just say yes I will leave the bank after serving the proper notice period o grab better career opportunity. So not sugarcoat your answer.

5. If you are made the branch manager of a branch which is incurring losses, then what will you do?

Being a branch manager firstly, I will examine the areas where the bank is losing. And then I will try to get low cost deposits such a CASA deposits and retail advances, as they are mostly secure and also increase branch earning.

6. What issues do you think are affecting the banking industry?

The first and foremost thing to be mentioned at this point should be non-performing assets of the bank as these have drastic affect over the balance sheet. Second issue is complying with the regulations and norms of the banking industry like Basel III norms.

7. Why should we hire you?

Well now is the time when you can impress the interviewers with your answer. First thing that you should mention at this point is what difference you can make to bank. How efficiently you will be dealing with customers and how you will increase the business of the bank.
