Every year Staff Selection Commission issues an employment notification for the post of SSC Stenographer. For being eligible for this post candidates need to have passed 10+2 examination and must lie in the age group 18-27 years. The recruitment for this post is done through written examination and skill test. Candidates must be able to type 100 w.p.m. for Group 'C' post and 80 w.p.m. for Group 'D' post. The written test for this post contains three sections namely- General Intelligence & Reasoning, English Language and Comprehension and General Awareness. The written test contains 200 multiple choice questions of one mark each. They are given 2 hours to complete the test.

General Intelligence and Reasoning paper:

The purpose of including this section in the paper is to test the decision making power and intelligence of the candidates. This section needs proper preparation and regular practice to in order to get cracked as this is very tricky.

Current Affairs:

Apart from the reasoning section, candidates are judged for their knowledge and awareness about their surroundings. To crack this section, candidates need to possess knowledge about what is happening across the world. They need to be aware of their immediate surrounding as well as of the world.

English Language:

This section forma the another important part of the paper. In this paper candidates are tested for their knowledge of language, its components, grammar, sentence formation, etc. They are also checked for their reading skills through comprehension section.
