Difference between IES Officer and SSC JE

We have covered all the aspects of engineering jobs through IES entry and SSC JE. Several candidates pursue engineering to obtain Graduation degree. After completing the degree it becomes a tough job to get an employment in the respective domain and the candidates from Civil/Mechanical and Electrical stream faces this problem the most. In private sector, employment openings and offered salary is less and working environment is precise whereas, public sector provides high perks, high salary, job security and high reputation in society.

Indian Engineering Services and Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineering: Brief

SSC JE is the examination to recruit the candidates possessing diploma. Hence, the questions inquired have very low toughness level in comparison to the questions asked from the candidates of graduation background. Candidates possessing graduation degree must have good conceptual knowledge of the subject. This post comes under Engineers, and is supposed to help the seniors in all the essential plans. Now, we shall look forward at the examination pattern, of SSC JE and IES Officer in brief:

SSC is conducted in Two Phases:

Paper I: It is an objective type paper which has 200 questions in all and from these 100 questions is Technical and 100 questions are from General Awareness and Reasoning. Candidates, who qualify paper I are called for Paper II.

Paper II: The paper contains 7 questions from which 5 questions are asked to solve. Every question is of 60 marks.

IES Examination: It is conducted for the candidates possessing B.Tech degree. So, it obviously contains questions that are more difficult in comparison to SSC JE. Let’s look at the examination pattern.

Stage I: The written examination is finished in 3 days.

Day I: General Awareness (Objective Types)

Day 2: the examination is conducted in two shifts. In both shifts objective technical paper takes place.

Day 3: It is also conducted in two shifts and contains descriptive type questions.

Each paper involved in the selection procedure is of 200 marks and the candidates have to clear all the examinations to reach the interview round.

Difference between IES and SSC JE:

SSC JE is conducted to recruit Junior Engineers which is even lower than the entry level post through IES examination. Designation given through SSC JE is Assistant Executive Engineer.

SSC JE get salary between Rs. 9,300-20,200/- with GP Rs. 4,200/- where as IES offices get salary between Rs. 15,600-39,100 + GP Rs. 5,400/-.

SSC JE gets less promotional avenues in comparison to IES officers.

Junior Engineers are recruited for following the policies made by IES officer whereas the IES heads are entitled with making decisions related to the engineering departments.

Every year approximately 400 IES officers are recruited whereas 2500 SSC JE are recruited.
