How to Score Good Marks in English Section in SSC CHSL?

The recruitment examination will be conducted in three phases i.e Tier I, Tier II and Tier III. Candidates will have to face 100 questions in total divided in the sections like Reasoning, General Awareness, English and Quantitative Aptitude. Each question will be of 2 marks and total time allotted for the examination will be 75 minutes. In this article we are going to discuss the strategy that the aspirants should follow in order to gain marks in English section.

Preparation Strategy for SSC CHSL

This examination comprises Tier I, Tier II and Tier III phases. In the tier I examination, candidates get 25 questions from the English section and in Tier II examination candidates have to write an essay on the given topic. They have to score at least 33 marks in this paper and the masks scored in this paper are added in the final merit.

Grasp the Syllabus:

Before start doing preparation for any paper candidates need to go through the syllabus well. Through this they get to know about what they have to prepare actually. After analyzing the syllabus they will get to know that which topic needs immediate attention and they will be able to devise a preparation strategy.

Prepare the Basic Grammar:

Once you have grasped the syllabus and have planned a preparation strategy, candidates should go through the basic grammar rules and for this they should refer to the reputed books available in market.

Vocabulary Part Needs to be Prepared on Daily Basis:

In this examination, you get questions based on antonyms, synonyms and one word substitution, etc. So, candidates should try to learn some new words on daily basis and should look for their opposites, synonyms and meanings in the dictionary.

Take Help of Newspapaer:

Develop the habit of reading newspaper on daily basis, this will help you in gaining proficiency over the language. Through this you will get to know about some new words and their applications.

Practice more and more:

Practice is the key to gain expertise in any subject. After completing the syllabus, candidates should start practicing more and more from several sources.

Go through Previous Years' Question Papers:

Aspirants should take help of the previous years' question papers. Through this they will get a fair idea about the sort of questions, they are going to face during the examination; this will help them a lot in their preparation.
