How to Score Good Marks in General Awareness Section in SSC CHSL Examination?

SSC in its latest recruitment notification has invited applications for several posts of Lower Division Clerk, Data Entry Operator, etc. in different departments under Government of India. Every year lakhs of candidates appear for this examination and this year also the condition is the same. This is quiet difficult for the candidates to get a job through this examination as the competition is quite tough in the field. This examination comprises Online test (Tier-I), Descriptive test (Tier-II), skill /practical test (Tier-III). From this year the personal interview round has been removed from the selection procedure.

Although the selection procedure is quite difficult but with firm determination and hard work candidates can get the job. They need to devise a planned preparation strategy so that they can attempt 100 questions within a time frame of 75 minutes. These questions are framed from the sections like Mathematics, English, Reasoning and General Awareness.

General Awareness is one of the paper, which can be very much scoring for the candidates aspiring for this examination. If the candidates know the answers then they finish this section within very short time. Questions in this section are framed from the topics like current news of national and international importance. The section comprises questions based on general knowledge and general awareness from various fields of arts, culture, science, politics and others. Questions related to sports and achievements. These questions are related to Geography, History and Economic Scenes.

Tips to Prepare this Section:

  • This paper contains questions based on recent developments, so candidates need to keep an eye on the recent happenings at the national and international level through TV, newspaper, radio, etc.
  • They should pay attention to daily current affairs and should note down the important ones. From time to time they should keep on revising these.
  • Candidates can search over the internet for the news, which is important. This is their task to decide which news is important from examination point of view and which is not.
  • They should not rely completely over the books for the preparation of this section; they should look at several sources to keep themselves updated with the latest happenings across the world.
  • They should not feel panic if they do not know the answer of any particular question. They should leave it and should move to the other question.
