Staff Selection Commission conducts Common Graduate Level (CGL) Examination each year to recruit candidates for several Group B and Group C posts under different ministries and departments of the Central Government in technical and non-technical cadres. This is among the biggest recruitment examination conducted by Central Government. Generally all the posts under Group C are non-interview posts.

Auditor in Offices under CGA / CAG / CGDA:

These posts are different but are very similar in nature of duties to be performed by them. The Auditors are authorised to keep an eye and account of the expenditure of different departments of the ministry. This is basically an office job, which has fixed working hours and limited workload. It offers decent scope for promotion. The salary is offered between Rs. 5,200-20,200/- with GP Rs. 2,800/-.

Accountant in CAG/CGA

As the name of the post suggest itself, the candidates recruited under this post have to maintain the account of expenditure and income of their departments. If the expenditure are going beyond limits then they also have to maintain it. They receive salary somewhere between Rs. 5200-20200 with the GP being 2400.

Tax Assistants in CBEC/CBDT:

This post is for separate departments but the nature of the job offered under this is more or less the same. Being a Tax Assistant, candidates have to maintain, modify, verify and assess data related to tax liability of a person, in case of goods and services and a business concern. They get salary somewhere between Rs. 5200-20200 with the GP being 2400.

Compiler:

This post falls under the office of Registrar General of India and the responsibilities attached with it includes compiling of data for Census through different statistical means. This is a desk based profile and have fixed working hours. The employees woring on this post gets salary between Rs. 5200-20200 + GP Rs. 2,400/-.

Sub-Inspector in Central Bureau of Narcotics:

Duties of the employees working on this post involves the prevent the circulation, intake and misuse of the narcotics item on the national borders and in the states. The duties one have to perform under this post are quiet hectic and involves lots of field work. Employees get salary between Rs. 5,200-20,200 with GP Rs. 2,400/-.

Among all the posts discussed above the post of auditor and Sub-Inspector in CBN are the best in terms of power. Both of these work for the prevention of wrongdoings and pay strict adherence to rules and regulations. All the other posts involves basically clerical work and are desk based.
