The Staff Selection Commission has recently announced that entry for SSC CGL posts will now be done through online written examination. In addition to this the commission has also introduced 4 tiers of examination in order to recruit the candidates and now no interview will be conducted for the recruitment of the candidates.

Online Examination

In an online examination, the questions appear on computer screen rather than on paper. Other things that you will observe are:

  • One question will appear on screen at a time. If you are not sure about the answer, then you can skip the question and can mark it for review. You can answer only one question at a time.
  • There is a prescribed time limit to complete the examination.
  • All the questions are objective type in nature.

  • Conducting of examination costs less because of less engagement of resources.
  • Answers can be altered anytime unlike the OMR sheets in which the answer once marked cannot be changed.
  • Certain problems can arise during the examination like power cut, technical problem, hardware problem, etc.
  • Candidates are less familiar with this method of examination, so they feel quite uncomfortable.

  • Candidates have to fill the correct answers in the sheet given. They have to fill the round blocks.
  • Answers once marked will not be altered.
  • This sort of examination requires lot of paper for conducting the examination and also at the time of producing the results.
  • It costs very high in comparison to online examination.
  • It involves OMR sheets to mark the answers and hence the answers once marked by the candidates cannot be altered.
  • No technical or other problems can arise during the offline examination.
  • Candidates find offline examination more comfortable than online examinations.
  • The answers once marked by the candidates can be altered.
