Strategies to Prepare for SSC Combined Higher Secondary Exam

Staff Selection Commission is the central recruitment agency of Government of India, which recruits staff for several Ministries and Departments of the Government. It selects candidates for the posts of Lower Division Clerk and Data Entry Operator in different departments through SSC Combined Higher Secondary Examination. It conducts examination at the different centers all across the nation through online mode. This test comprises four sections like Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, English Language and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The paper comprises 200 multiple choice questions of total 200 marks. Each section of the paper contains 50 questions and 0.25 marks are deducted for the each wrong answer given by the candidate.

Tips for English Language Section:

English Language section is one of the most scoring and interesting sections of the examination. It requires good command over English Language to crack this particular section. Candidates need to sharpen their basic grammar and vocabulary to get good marks. This section generally comprises questions based on rearrangement, comprehensions, error spotting, antonyms, synonyms, etc.

Tips for Quantitative Aptitude:

To score good in this section, candidates really need to practice the basics of mathematics and should have good knowledge of approximation concepts. Through good practice candidates can solve the questions without making much calculations and this will help them in saving time for other sections of the paper. The questions in this are formed from the topics like simplification, ratio & percentage, profit and loss, average, data interpretation, trigonometry, discount, time and work, decimal and fractions, etc. To score good marks, aspirants have to invent shortcuts to solve the questions in less time.

Tips for General Intelligence and Reasoning:

Aspirants require lot of concentration and logical skills to crack this section. Candidates needs to practice different sort of problems on daily basis to attain mastery over them and to score good. They have to understand the nature of the problems first and then have to practice them religiously until they feel confident of solving them. In this section questions are included from Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning Topics like inferences, syllogism, number series, Venn diagrams, word building, classification, analogy, etc.

Tips for General Awareness:

This is considered as one of the most scoring sections and it takes very less time to complete this section. For getting good marks in this subject, candidates need to be very well aware of the recent happenings on the national and international level. The topics from which questions are framed for this section are generally related to history, geography, culture, scientific research, economic scene, etc.
