Staff Selection Commission holds examination for the recruitment of Stenographer under Grade C and Grade D, every year. This examination consists of written test and stenography skill test. The aspirants, who want to apply for this post, must have passed 12th from a board or school recognized by government. The examination contains 200 questions of one mark each, which are framed from the sections like General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning and English Language and Comprehension. Aspirants have to complete the test in the duration of two hours. Apart from English Language and Comprehension, the questions for every other section are framed both in Hindi as well as English language.

General Awareness:

This section is one of the most important and most scoring sections of the competitive examinations. This section is included in the exam to test the overall knowledge of the candidates about the surrounding and the world. The candidates can attain good marks in this section by reading and watching news on regular basis and also by reading magazines on current topics.

General Intelligence and Reasoning:

This section plays a very important role in increasing the overall score of the candidates. You can score good marks in this section only by regular practice and application of mind. One should solve previous years question papers; this will give him or her gist about the examination pattern and syllabus. They should try to solve the questions in less time each and every time; this will help them in increasing question solving speed. Questions in this section are framed from the topics like similarities and differences, visualization, problem solving, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, etc.

English Language and Comprehension:

The purpose of this section is to test the knowledge and understanding of the candidates of English Language. Candidates, who have good command over the language, can easily get score good marks in this section. But the candidates, who are weak in English language, find it difficult to attempt the question and understand the question. Regular reading and writing habit can help the candidates so much in achieving good marks in this section. They should try to practice the basics of grammar and should also learn some new words to increase their vocabulary. Further, they should give proper time to the preparation of this subject as well.
