Tips to Score More in General Awareness Section in SSC CHSL

Staff Selection Commission has once again invited applications for Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination for the recruitment of LDC (Lower Division Clerk) and DEO (Data Entry Operators) in several government departments. Every years lacs of candidates take part in this examination and it will be the same for this year as well. Candidates are recruited for these posts through written tests, skill /practical test, descriptive tests, and personal interview. Although the competition is quite tough in the field but through little hard work and determination, candidates can get recruited for the post. For cracking the recruitment process, candidates need to prepare strategically for the recruitment process. They need to attempt 200 questions in 2 hours. They should start their preparation by looking at the syllabus of examination and then they should divide their time properly between each section. The examination contains four sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English and General Awareness.

General Awareness is one of the section, which can fetch lot of marks for the candidates in the examination. As this section involves no calculations, candidates can save lot of time in this particular paper. This section contains questions from the topics from various fields of culture, politics, science, arts and many others. Questions related to sports and achievements are also there. Questions from the sections of History, Geography, Economics and other subjects are asked in the paper. Questions on economic and foreign policy of adjacent nations and on important personalities of different countries are also framed.

Tips to Prepare General Awareness Section:

  • As this section contains questions on recent developments and happenings across the worlds, the candidates need to keep an eye on the all the events of national or international importance through newspaper, television, internet, etc.
  • Aspirants must read the newspaper on daily basis and make a list of important events taking place across the globe. They must keep on reading this list from time to time to remember these.
  • Candidates should search over the internet for the national and international affairs and should find out from them which are important and which are not.
  • They should only depend upon books for the preparation of this section, they should gather information about the recent happenins from other sources of media.
  • They just need to keep themselves cool and confident and should not feel panic about anything. If they don't the answer then they should leave the question and should move to the next one.
